Naitik Bagla of DPS Ranchi selected for International UCMAS Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Competition
Naitik Bagla the student of Class V of Delhi Public School, Ranchi has participated in the 17th National UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition held at Ahmedabad. He bagged the 4th runner up position amongst 7000 + participants all over India. His hard work and dedication made him qualify for the International level at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He also came out with flying colours and brought laurels to the school when he was awarded as the State Champion.

Delhi Public School Ranchi has woven International aspect in its education system through multicultural activities at all levels. As an acknowledgement of this approach, British Council has bestowed International School Award (ISA) upon the school for 2018-21.School had applied for this award in 2017 and after a year – long execution of total 7 projects involving all classes, has finally won it. These projects were based on varied themes and had global dimensions to it as all were a comparative study of conditions in India and abroad. More than 80% of students from class Prep to class XII participated in these under the guidance of teachers. The topics of these curriculum activities were varied like "Meet and Greet, Medicinal Plants, Compassion for Animals, Public Transportation, Community Supported Agriculture, Martial Arts and Watershed Management", thus covering all the subject areas. Innumerable activities were conducted under these projects such as research work, field trips, interactive sessions, celebration of important international days, thematic assemblies, street play, poster making, debate and speech competitions etc. The most interesting aspect of this journey was that DPS Ranchi established partnership with 5 schools in countries like Srilanka, Japan, UK, USA and Malawi.
School had got this award earlier for 2015-18 and has been accredited again for 2018-21. Principal Dr. Ram Singh expressed great pleasure at the announcement of this award and congratulated the students and the team of teachers for this success.. He dreams of creating real global citizens out of Dipsites and emphasizes on enhancing awareness of global issues at local and regional levels. He hoped that this achievement of school will enable students to tread further on the path of global citizenship.
DPS Student Gets Bronze in Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad
The APMO contest consists of one four-hour paper consisting of five questions of varying difficulty and each having a maximum score of 7 points. Contestants should not have formally enrolled at a university (or equivalent post-secondary institution) and they must be younger than 20 years of age on the 1st July of the year of the contest. The aims of the APMO include:
- the discovering, encouraging and challenging of mathematically gifted school students in all Pacific-Rim countries
- the fostering of friendly international relations and cooperation between students and teachers in the Pacific-Rim Region
- the creating of an opportunity for the exchange of information on school syllabi and practice throughout the Pacific Region
- the encouragement and support of mathematical involvement with Olympiad type activities, not only in the APMO participating countries, but also in other Pacific-Rim countries.
Rayyan Shahid, of DPS Ranchi has got the privilege to get qualified in this exam and winning a Bronze medal for the same.
The school Principal Dr. Ram Singh congratulated Rayyan for his achievement and wished him a great future ahead. He also said such type of success acts as a motivation for other students as well to do well in educational life.
