Sushree Ghosh of DPS Ranchi Qualified for Final Round in Italy: 7th International Competition in English Language
Out of a total of 36,000 students who participated in this year’s Hippo 2019 edition, Sushree Ghosh (Hippo S2) of Class XII became one out of three Indian students who qualified for the Final Round and will be representing India in Ledo di Jesolo (Venezila), Italy on 11th & 12th May. This itself says enough of how spectacularly she has performed in the tests.
Hippo 2019 is unique competition is organised by GLOBAL HIPPO ASSOCIATION. GLOBAL HIPPO ASSOCIATION is a non-profit organisation founded in 2012 with the purpose of promoting the importance of English language knowledge and bringing together children from different countries. Hippo “English Without Borders“ Competition is an international competition which promotes English language, challenges students around the globe to compete in English language knowledge, and improves the co-operation between teachers.
The competition encourages the development of a shared sense of identity and integration, serves as a role model for young people living together as one community. The main goal is to create and nourish friendly relations, international understanding and a spirit of sporting competitiveness between young people interested in English language from all around the world.
The first round of this prestigious international Olympiad was held in the month of February 2019. DPS Ranchi has been conducting this competition since a couple of years under its wing of Overseas Opportunities. Centre of Overseas Opportunities was again an initiative taken by our honourable Principal Dr. Ram Singh for making DPS Ranchi a school with Global opportunities.
He always advocates the enhancement of the child’s perception of the world and Centre of Overseas Opportunities is a stepping stone for that. The school’s approach is to integrate multiple dimensions and global perspectives within the school curriculum so that education is not just stuck in the subject-knowledge and national culture. The school seeks to discover alternative motivations and alternate futures for the children. Such Olympiads are only to strengthen the motto of Global Citizenship among the children.

Tech Savvy Dipsites Bag 2nd and 3rd Prize at Tech Fest, IIT Bombay
The Techradiance’19 workshop was organised last year in the month of October which was conducted by Harbour Technologies in association with IIT Bombay. The competitions were based on three modules; Cyber Security, Android App Development and Robotics. It is noteworthy that 106 students participated in the first level of this workshop and 29 students were selected, out of which 25 Students were from DPS Ranchi. These students further went to participate in the Final Round of Tech Fest which took place in IIT Bombay. Our students performed exceedingly well in the final round and we are extremely proud to announce that in the Robotics module a team of 5 students namely Vaishnav Garodia, Shakeb Arsalan, Prasann, Agrima Shree and Mansha Mishra have won the 2nd Prize. In addition to that, Pratyush Sinha, Mohit Banka and Kartikeya Narayan from the Cyber Security module secured the 3rd Position. The students were bestowed with medals and trophies for exhibiting their technical temperament. The best part was the Certificate of Excellence issued on behalf of IIT Bombay which will prove to be an asset for the children.
It is an immense joy for us to announce that not only the students, but also the Robotics teacher Mr. Narayan Kumar was conferred with an award of Best Robotics Faculty as our team successfully made their mark in two out of the three modules.
It is worth mentioning, that teaching of Robotics as a subject in the school curriculum was an initiative taken by our honourable Principal Dr. Ram Singh. Two years back, when nobody thought of Robotics, it was Dr. Ram Singh who perceived the idea of introducing children with this branch of technology. He expressed his happiness that this decision turned out to be a golden opportunity for the students to showcase their technical understanding of Artificial Intelligence.
DPS Ranchi wins at Saksham National Competition (PCRA)
Petroleum Conservation Research Association organised Saksham National Competition, a national level painting competition in the month of October 2018. Shubham Sasmal (Class IX) of DPS Ranchi has marked his victory by getting a consolation award in the 'Senior Group' on the topic 'Save Fuel Save Earth'. It's a national level achievement and Shubham has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000. The school is proud to have such talented students, who, under guidance of their efficient teachers are adding accolades in the success saga of the school.
