Election for Students Council (Primary Wing)
Election for students’ council of primary wing was held in the premises of Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 17th June, 2016.
After a rigorous nomination process of short listing through candidate’s speeches and interviews three boys and three girls were selected.
All these nominees created an election campaign placing posters around the school and convincing students about why they would be the best for the job. Election was conducted using democratic procedures of nomination, scrutiny, campaigning and voting. The special assembly where candidates were given opportunity to address the school for few minutes was the highlight of the process. Every candidate gave highly articulate campaign speeches which was a revelation of their confidence. Ballot boxes manned by teachers were set up. Students voted using ballot paper. As a part of election system they were applied ink on their fingers after casting vote. It was very exciting time for them as they voted for their leaders. They are a part of democrative country where each one has the right to vote. This thought was brought into practice here. According to the young and enthusiastic voters they felt their position to be important enough in choosing their leaders democratically. Encouraging the process of selection through election for the students council, Principal Dr. Ram Singh said ‘At DPS, we understand the importance of our students’ views and opinions and provide opportunity to them for choosing their leaders. Primary students wise enough to elect their best leader”.
The counting of the ballot papers was done in front of the students.
Rohit was elected as the Head Boy and Shivangi became the head Girl with majority votes.
Total no. of votes for the post of Head Boy were:
- Rohit Raj – 293
- Abhuday Tulsian – 197
- Kavya – 74
Total no. of votes for the post of Head Girls were:
- Shivangi – 414
- Shambhavi Prabha – 96
- Drishika Priya – 59
Overall it was quit an invigorating day for the children where they were enlightened with all the nuances of democracy.
Candidates throng the gates of DPS Ranchi for Admission in Class XI
The outstanding performance of Delhi Public School Ranchi has cast a magical spell among the students in and around Ranchi. All the students who secured 10 CGPA were given direct admission. As soon as the results were declared a huge crowd was visible at the gates of DPS Ranchi, and from yesterday (28/05/2016) itself the admission procedure of Phase II has started.
A huge number of students were present to try their luck to be a member of the DPS Ranchi family. Many candidates were there who had come all the way from Begusarai, Purnea, Gumla, Supaul and Sasaram because they were enamoured by the reputation of the school. Some also said that is was a dream for them to get enrolled in DPS Ranchi.
Anshuman Roshan who had come all the way from Gumla was keen to get admission here to get the best education possible as he has lot of expectation from the school.
Another candidate, Anubhav Kumar, from Hajipur, strongly feels that DPS, Ranchi will provide him the best platform to achieve his goal.
Felicitation Ceremony at DPS Ranchi for AISSCE 2016
The high achievers in the AISSCE 2016 exams were awarded by the school in a felicitation ceremony organized in the school premises today 25/05/2016. The occasion was graced by the auspicious presence of Dr. Naresh Trehan, a renowned cardiologist and Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta, The Medicity as the chief guest. Shri Manoj Kumar Deputy Commissioner Ranchi and Brigadier Shri Sunil Kumar were special guests. The program began with the rendition of a melodious welcome song.
344 students who have secured 90% and above were felicitated by presenting a memento and a certificate of appreciation.
Chief guest Dr. Trehan while addressing the audience spoke about holistic development of children and strongly emphasized that the latent potentials in the children should be honed to perfection in the school itself. He also said that we have a lot of expectation from our future generation because our nation needs responsible and confident citizens to uphold the virtue of the society. He also assured to tie up DPS Ranchi with Medanta for medical facilities.
Shri Manoj (Deputy commissioner, Ranchi) congratulate the students for their outstanding performance, and also appreciated the efforts of the Principal and his erudite group of teachers.
Brigadier Shri Sunil Kumar congratulated the students and also motivated them to join the defence service in order to serve the nation.
The school auditorium was filled with ecstatic students and their proud parents. The and 2nd state toppers Siddhant and Garima Sahu who scored 98% in the science stream were the first to receive their awards. They were followed by Shristi Sarawgi, Commerce stream school topper with 96.8%. The ceremony awarded and recognized all the students scoring 90% or more and applauded them for their sheer hard work.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi, addressed the gathering and congratulated not only the students but also their parents and the school staff. He stressed on the fact that with the pinch of determination and sheer hard work one can achieve wonders no matter what the circumstances might be. He encouraged the students to embark on their forward journey with the same perseverance and determination and to continue bringing laurels to this prestigious institution.
The ceremony ended with the vote of thanks followed by a photography session.
Sports fest comes to a spectacular end at DPS Ranchi
A week long sports training camp was held at Delhi Public School, Ranchi which started on May 11. This session was aimed to train students from Classes III to XII in sports like cricket, football, basketball etc. So that the overall development of a child takes place. Today’s world is world of competition where each person strives to become the best and hence, to survive in this world of cut-throat competition one needs to excel not only in the field of academics but also in extracurricular activities as such sports as it is rightly said, “all work and no play makes jack a dull boy!” Sports not only helps to keep our body fit but also it helps to keep our minds healthy and relaxed. This session also provided proper guidance to the students with an interest in sports so that they bring laurels to the school as well as the country.
Famed professional of state and national level were there to train the students about the nuances of different sports events.
“Our main objective is to create global citizens who shine in every sphere of life and for that camps and sessions like these are of extreme importance,” said the Principal of DPS Dr. Ram Singh. He also thanked the professionals for giving their valuable time.
Over whelming response of students for Sports Camp (Day-Six)
6th day of training session at DPS, Ranchi, it has been rightly said that the ‘Proof of the pudding is in the eating – and with this thought on their minds friendly matches were organised for the Dipsites who had been undergoing training in various events like- football, cricket, basketball, table tennis etc.\r\n\r\n
This gave them an opportunity to showcase their talent and it was also a testimony to their sincerity with which they attended the training sessions.\r\n \r\n
The highlight or the icing on the cake was ofcourse the participation of Shri Anupam Singh Rathore a National level football player. His presence was instrumental in boosting the morale of the children, who are passionate about football.\r\n\r\n
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi, said special emphasis on the fact that outdoor games are important for the holistic development of child. He also feels that children today are over burdened with studies and such sessions will enable them to remain fit and healthy as we all know that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.
Over whelming response of students for Sports Camp - Day Two
D.P.S. Ranchi has organised a summer camp for its students. DPS, Ranchi has always been conscious on building character and competence in our children through a rich curricular and co-curricular activities under the guidance of proficient teachers.\r\n\r\n
Children in huge numbers are tuning up everyday with immense amount of zeal and enthusiasm. They are eager to learn the technicalities of different sports events.\r\n\r\n
Shri M.V. Parthsarthy, (Secretary Jharkhand Table Tennis Association) was there today to give the children valuable tips on Table Tennis game.\r\n\r\n
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi, was there to motivate the children and also spoke to them about the importance of sports in a students life. He is of the opinion that sports and games also enables one to be disciplined in life.\r\n\r\n
The camp has not only helped the students to polish their skills in their games of interest, but also it has provided them a kind of platform to showcase their hidden talents.
DPS, Ranchi has developed a well-equipped language lab
Language is a mode of communication to express one’s feelings. A language lab creates a learning environment much more effective than traditional classrooms, enhancing the capabilities of students and allowing a high degree of immersion and attention to diversity. Keeping this in view Delhi Public School, Ranchi has developed a well-equipped language lab. Where learners can hone up the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking in English, French and German.
It has a number of advanced facilities which helps the students to learn the languages with proficiency to communicate. It is very useful for assessing the students speech. It provides students with technical tools to get the best samples of pronunciation of the languages taught. The electronic devices used in the lab will stimulate the eyes and ears of the learners to acquire the language quickly and easily. The lab’s collection is designed to assist young learners in the acquisition and maintenance of aural comprehension, oral and written proficiency and cultural awareness. It will not only help in strengthening the conceptual grasp but also promote accuracy and fluency in speaking the languages, besides taking care of paralinguistic elements.
Hence it is aptly said, “Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going”
Cyber Security Awareness Programme at DPS Ranchi
Cyber Crime is eclipsing the entire world spreading like an unstoppable virus hence a cyber security awareness programme was held at the Vivekananda Auditorium of DPS Ranchi for the students of Std. IX and X on 11/05/2016. The programme was organised by Cyber Crime Police Station, Criminal Investigation Department, Ranchi.
The chief spokesperson was Dr. Jaya Roy (S.P.) and Mr. Sumit Kumar (D.S.P.) along with their team. The students were made aware about the happenings in the virtual world which could harm them.
Dr. Jaya Roy told the students, who were all ears to her , that cyber crime is the most common rising type of issue these days. Teenagers are the ones who are most vulnerable to this type of exploitation. She also explained about the different ways these criminals use for portraying as friends and harming people. Further, Mr. Sumit kumar, DSP, guided the students through the process of switching to private mode on the social networking sites. He also referred to some cases to instruct the students about the do’s and don’ts. After this the children came up with queries like “What is the symbol which signifies that the site is safe?” or “Shall we click on pop ups?” Many questions were dealt by the experts very patiently.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi, thanked the entire team for updating the students. He also said that children should be taught to use the net judiciously and under the supervision of their parents.
On the whole it was an extremely exciting session and the students were happy to learn about the technicalities related to cyber crime.
Thus, the panacea for staying away from cyber crime is first and foremost, knowledge and vigilance. Besides, there are various tools available from the ‘Cyber-doctors’ to keep us away from this notorious disease.
Over whelming response of students for Sports Camp
Sports & games are an integral part of a student’s life. A student needs to study hard to crach competitive exams but he should also play games and sports to enjoy the health of life.In helping with this idea Delhi Public School, Ranchi has organised special training sessions in various sports.
Children in huge numbers are turing up everyday with immense amount of zeal and enthusiasm. They are eager to learn the technicalities of different sports events. Some of the children who were there today said that it was a wonderful concept because now a days they do not get time and opportunity to nurture their sporting skills.
Today, Shri Anupam Singh Rathore, a national level football player and football coach, gave the children valuable tips. Shri Muktesh Singh Chauhan (Cricket Coach) was also there to guide them about the game of cricket.

Investiture Ceremony at DPS Ranchi
‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, and become more then you are a leader’ – in order to inculcate the leadership qualities in students the school cabinet was formed and they were incducted through a grand investiture ceremony at Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 06/05/2016 for the session 2016-17. The event was presided over by Brigadier S. Chakravarty as the Chief Guest.
The programme began with a melodious welcome song which was followed by the lighting of the lamp signifying removal of darkness and the continuous upward movement of the flames denoting the path of wisdom and divinity. After the lighting of the lamp the newly appointed school appointees and the house appointees took the oath in front of the whole school. The oath was administered by the honourable Chief Guest.
The whole school was also made aware of the unique selection process in which it was highlighted that discipline, academics and behaviour has been given utmost priority so that they become role models for their fellow schoolmates.
Shubh Mishra was appointed as the Head boy and Snigdha Chakravorty as the Head girl. Yuvraj Pradhan was appointed as the Cultural Secretary (Boy) and Arshin Bagga as Cultural secretary ( Girl). Amit Dutta is the new sports captain (Boy) and Shreya Singh sports captain (Girl). Apart from these children the House captains and vice captains were also handed over the house flags.
Brigadier S. Chakravarty the Chief Guest for today’s program congratulated the students and motivated them to be dutiful and responsible. He also said that they should shoulder the duties entrusted to them and work with sync with the mission of the school- ‘Service Before Self’. It was also highlighted by him that self discipline, self introspection, and doing right things for the right cause are the significant traits of a good leader.Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of the school while addressing the children explained the significance of ‘Investiture Ceremony’. He said that it denotes investment in being leaders and the trust and confidence we repose in our newly invested office bearers for the involvement of the students’ community in the day to day functioning of the school since we believe in child centric approach.
A short cultural programme was also presented by the Dipsites in the honour of the Chief Guest, and the programme came to an end with the vote of thanks which was proposed by the Head Boy.
On the whole the entire programme was conducted with the highest degree of sincerity and enthusiasm.
