Summer Time is Fun Time

“Doing good not only feels good, it leads to more good.”

The little hearts of primary wing, on 11.05.2018 at DPS Ranchi, celebrated their last day just before their summer vacation with utter happiness and responsibilities at the same time. 

Students also participated in the vow taking activity where the little hands fisted to help society and environment in this vacation. 

Their list of promises included things like taking care of birds by keeping a bowl of water for them, helping their parents at work, have enough fruits and to keep themselves hydrated etc.

It was a treat for the spectators to watch these little minds speaking so intensely. They bid bye filling their hearts with excitement and curiosity. Their smiles reflected their delightful thoughts and several plans. 

The Principal Dr. Ram Singh wished them a very enjoyable vacation. He also stressed on how proud he was to see the young future filled up with responsibilities. Being a social buzz himself, he quoted that –

“A person with a dutiful life is a person worth remembering for ages.”

Intramural Cricket Tournament (Boys) Ends at DPS Ranchi

A two day Intramural Cricket tournament (Boys) played by the students of Classes IX and XII at Delhi Public School Ranchi ended on 10th April 2018. 

There were two semi-finals played. The first semi-final was between Chenav House and Ganges in which Chenab House won the match by 6 runs. In the second semi – final Jhelum house played against Ravi house and Jhelum came out as winner by 4 runs.

The final match of the tournament was played between Jhelum House vs Chenav House. Chenav House scored 70 runs and Jhelum scored 71 runs to win the match.

On this victorious day the Principal of the school Dr. Ram Singh said that he was amazed to see the sportsmanship and the team spirit of the student and he also congratulated the winning teams.

Work is Worship Programme at DPS, Ranchi

Students of class V of Delhi Public School, Ranchi emphasized on the point that empty verbal prayers are not as valuable as real achievement in any field through their small programme.

The students enacted a small skit and showcased that all kinds of works rank the same in the eyes of God, as it is said ‘each has its own use and purpose’. 

In the skit the students presented themselves as different craftsperson and wage earners and shared their importance in our daily life.

They also related the different human body parts with society and stressed on ‘each work has its own worth’.

Witnessing the programme Principal of the school Dr. Ram Singh said that it is of great importance for a child to know and learn to respect each and every working person around them. Such kind of activity will help the students understand and respect the different craftsperson and wage earners.

A Tribute to Motherhood by DPS Ranchi

'A mother is a one who can take the place of everybody else but whose place nobody can take'.

God cannot be everywhere, so he created mothers to let the world witness the most selfless side of human nature. To celebrate this ever blooming nature of motherhood at DPS Ranchi on 8th of May, 2018 students of class II held an unforgettable programme in the auditorium of the school.

The occasion was to remind ourselves the importance of mother in real sense and pay gratitude to most beautiful creation of God. 

The programme unfolded various chapters of a mother's busy life where she gives her all and asks for nothing. The little hearts could be seen realizing the real value of their mothers love and their eyes filled with tears to imagine a day without her. The curtains opened with a welcome song and a short skit with beautiful message followed the sequence. There were number of activities like singing, dancing and ramp show where mothers explored their self and burnt the stage with their confidence.

The students could not held their ineffable happiness to see their mothers in action. The smiling faces of mothers glared the auditorium making everybody joyous. 

The Principal, Dr.  Ram Singh on the occasion expressed his gratitude towards the young thoughts to pay respect to their mothers. He discussed her irreplaceable role in family and how a family depends on her love and care.  So let's not leave her in disguise and celebrate this gift with our actions and not only by words because we all know that. 

'We are what our mothers make us.  We owe our life to her... today and always.. '

Intramural Cricket Tournament (Boys) at DPS Ranchi

A two day Intramural cricket tournament (Boys) played by the students of Classes IXth to XIIth at Delhi Public School Ranchi  on 9th May 2018. 

The first match of the tournament was played between Ganges House vs Jamuna House.

During the match both the houses gave each other a cut throat competition and Ganges House defeated Jamuna House by 4 wickets. Jamuna House scored 81 runs in ten overs and Ganges House scored 82 runs to register their victory.

The second match was played between Jhelum house and Satluj House in which Jhelum house won the match by 9 wickets. In this match Satluj House scored 46 runs and Jhelum house without loosing any wicket won the ten over match.

On this victorious day the Principal of the school Dr. Ram Singh said that he was amazed to see the sportsmanship and the team spirit of the student and he also congratulated the winning teams.

Election of Students Council in Primary Wing at DPS Ranchi

‘Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.’

To nurture the budding leaders and to acquaint students with democratic values, election for the post of Head Boy and Head Girl was held at the Primary Wing of Delhi Public School, Ranchi.

Primary Wing of DPS Ranchi wore democratic colours when the contestants who won in the first and second round of the election at the class and inter-sections level, came equipped with different banners and supporters to deliver their speeches in the most convincing manner loaded with slogans and tag lines. Their body language gave the feel of real parliamentary elections. All the students casted their votes enthusiastically.

Principal Dr. Ram Singh said that DPS Ranchi is a leader in child education and this kind of child centric approach will frame responsible citizens when every student will have the opportunity to reach their potential in their respective fields.

A Programme on Social Reformers and their Contribution at DPS Ranchi

'We create revolution by living it. '

A programme on 'social reformers' was showcased by the students of class IV of DPS Ranchi.  The programme began with a heart touching poem “Betiyaan". 

The impact of evil social customs and practices like female infanticide, child marriage, untouchability, sati system etc.  were prevalent  in India  in the nineteenth century  was presented  through a beautiful skit.

The children portrayed the character of Mahatma Gandhi, B. R.  Ambedkar, Baba Amte, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Swami Vivekananda etc.  and presented their remarkable contributions towards the eradication of evil customs and practices from the Indian society. 

Narendra Modi as the social reformers of 21st century was also enacted by the students. The programme concluded with a mesmerizing dance performance demonstrating India’s unity.

Principal Dr. Ram Singh motivated and appreciated the beautiful show and said that such programmes develop awareness in the children.

Human Library Session 2018 at DPS Ranchi

Beating the summer heat aside, DPS Ranchi started the Human Library session of 2018

“A Person should be academically talented with an administrative blend” 

Students of today should not only be academically talented but also have administrative skills to succeed in life . This was the saying of the Guest speaker of Human Library session in DPS Ranchi that was held on 7th May 2018. The Guest speaker of the session was Dr. Anjani Kumar Srivastava (Dean Faculty of Science, Ranchi University). Dr Srivastava has been serving in the Education domain since the past 23 years and has been associated with different Universities for various assignments.

As per Dr. Srivastava, one should choose a career as per his liking and not the suggestions given by friends . He said that if the career selection is as per liking then the chances of getting succeeded is more and a lot of job satisfaction is derived out of it. He stressed on the aspect that success comes with increase in capability and capability increases with knowledge so it is very important to work hard for increasing the knowledge as knowledge is the base of every success achieved. Dr Srivastava was speaking to the students of class XIIth and was very innovative in encouraging the students by saying that one should not run away from difficult situations and face them as this is what makes a person perfect in solving problems.

Dr. Srivastava encouraged students to set targets not by overestimating or underestimating the self capabilities and explained that one should have the habit of asking questions to himself to continuously improve the standard. He said that another innovative way which students of today’s time should have is self thinking style.

Dr. Srivastava advised that one should not totally ignore the opinion of his parents as they can be a good guide in paving the way to success and said that convincing parents about career liking is also very important as their consent is a mandate. He also said that there should always be multiple options in career planning as if there is failure in one plan then we have the other plan handy. 

The school Principal Dr. Ram Singh, expressed his gratitude to Dr. Srivastava for his encouraging words to motivate the students and said that students will surely get benifited out of the suggestions given by Dr. Srivastava.

A Programme on Colour Red at DPS Ranchi

Colours are brighter when the mind is open.

Taking a step towards learning and opening their mind to knowledge, the students of class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Ranchi showcased a short programme on the colour red on 1st of May, 2018.

The main motive of the programme was to clear the concept of colour ‘Red’ among the nursery students.

The tiny tots presented different rhymes related to the colour. They also did a roll play and shared the significance and importance of the red colour things around them namely; post offices, hospital sign, stop sign, red car, red animal, red fruits and vegetables etc.

Red is the ultimate cure to sadness. Unlike other colors, red has several meanings and interpretations that represent opposing feelings or moods. Red can be unnerving representing aggression, danger, and sacrifice, love, beauty, success and courage.

IIMUN Closing Ceremony at DPS Ranchi

The IIMUN event commenced on 28th April 2018 and ended on 29th April 2018 in the premises of DPS Ranchi with more than 500 students from different schools of Ranchi and Jharkhand including DPS took part in it. The students were divided into different committees on the first day. Students were really very energetic to take part in the debate of the respective committees.

The different committees were International Press in which the students discussed about cartoonists, photographers who play a very major role in motivating people. Students put their points in favour with justifications and some students even put forwards the negative aspects of this.

The second committee was Lok Sabha in which students discussed about how to combat terrorism and what all steps should be taken to uproot terrorism. In this students spoke about making education more easily accessible to all so that it can play a major role making all literate and through literacy people will know that terrorism is an evil.

The third committee was BCCI. Students in this committee got the topic as how we can revamp the quality of our cricket as there has been degradation in this game. In this students also discussed about the ill impacts of IPL as that has also plated its role in degrading the quality of the game. In this many students highlited how IPL has spoiled the gentleman’s game. Many supported IPL quoting that in today’s fast life entertainment is very important.

Another committee was ILO(International Labour Organisation) in which students represented different countries and discussed about the unemployment issues prevailing in their countries and what steps they are taking to solve this problem.

The next committee was of UNEP in which students had debates on various financial issues of the country and discussed on how they can sort out those issues.

In the second day as well the same debate progressed and students came out with more points with justifications.

At the end of the debate there were certifications given to the students who were good enough to justify themselves with their points.

Overall it was a very good exposure given to all the students who participated in this. Students gave feedback that they had participated in an event that has increased their knowledge and public speaking ability which will help them throughout their lives.
